The traditional view of the Tribulation holds that the 7 year covenant is signed when the Antichrist is revealed in Seal 1. However, there is nothing in Scripture that directly states that, it is an assumption. There are several reasons that I believe that the 7 year covenant that starts the time of Jacob's Trouble happens after most of the Seals are opened:

The Seals are not referred to as Judgments. The Trumpets and the Bowls are called Judgments.
- Jesus is opening the Seals of His newly acquired Title Deed to the Earth (See this explanation of Revelation 5 here)

The Seals are caused by men. The Trumpet and the Bowl Judgments are caused by angels.

The Seals directly correspond to the Olivet Discourse birth pains:

The Seals are the beginning (birth pains) of God's wrath (birth) by giving men over to what they desire.
- I believe that the Seals happen AFTER the rapture. What we are experiencing now are the Braxton Hicks pains.
- The restraining force of God (Holy Spirit) has been removed (pre-tribulation rapture) and now men are allowed to rule themselves.
- Dr. John (Jack) Donne – 17th century poet
  - In a 1640 sermon, he states “it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God; but to fall out of the hands of the living God is a horror beyond our expression, beyond our imagination.”
  - If God punishes you for what you’ve done, that’s a fearful thing. But it's far worse when God takes His hands off and lets go.
- God's wrath on unrighteousness is described in Romans 1 as God giving men over to their own desires.

Seal 1 - Antichrist System (One-World) - God's judgment on man by letting him rule himself
- Men are calling for a world leader to fix everything
  - “What we want is a man of sufficient stature to hold the alliances of all people and to lift us out of the economic morass into which we are sinking. Send us such a man, and be he god or devil, we will receive him.” Henri Spaak circa 1957-1960 Secretary General of NATO
- Antichrist system (man's rule) conquers through laws / regulations / mandates. It has military strength, but does not use it.
  - When Antichrist confirms the covenant (starts the 7 years), he will have all the answers and bring peace (Daniel 9).
    - Dan 8:24 And his [Antichrist] power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. 25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.     - Dan 9:27 Then he [Antichrist] shall confirm [not create] a covenant [of peace] with many for one week;
- What follows Seal 1, however, is anything but peace:
  - great war (Seal 2)
  - economic catastrophe and famine (Seal 3)
  - death by famine, plague and wild beasts (Seal 4)
  - persecution (Seal 5)
- Who would give all authority to someone that caused all of that?
- However, someone that put an end to all of that would be given great authority.
  - Maybe he causes an initial halt to the Russia/Ukraine conflict
  - Perhaps he holds the deep state oppressors at bay
    - Seal 3 - do not harm the oil and the wine (luxury items) - the global elites will not be impacted by the economic failure and famine because they caused it.

Seal 2 - World Wars
- Russia/Ukraine (Step 2 of the Great Reset)
- China/Taiwan
- Iran/Israel

Seal 3 - Extreme inequity - Famine and economic disaster for the majority, overwhelming wealth and luxury for the globalists
- The ruling class the does not observe the regulations that they put into place because they are hardcore marxists / communists
  - Marxism and communism are Satanically inspired mechanisms
    - The ruling class is all about developing a context of mass psychosis in the group that they seek to rule over so that eventually they can become the person who is the hero for giving them less liberty than they had in the first place
      - They will take away everything from you, but will become your hero because they give you a stick of gum
    - That's what we're seeing right now with these mandates and Executive Orders
      - The ruling class liberal democrats are the most racist party in the country, if not the world
      - They don't care about race, they simply care about using it as a mechanism to develop their Marxist ideals

- Covid 'vaccine' to shut down the immune systems in 2-3 years - the common cold will kill you if you have taken the shots and do not get the appropriate boosters (which you will not be allowed to have unless you are playing nicely with the Globalists).

Seal 5 - Christian persecution - Already happening
- Taliban in Afghanistan are beheading Christians
- Conservative Christians are labeled as Domestic Terrorists because we oppose the 'woke anti-God' movement

The stage is already set for these Seals to happen.

Biblical Typology of Joseph - Joseph took a Gentile bride, then had 2 sons, before the 7 year famine started.
- This would seem to indicate at least a 2 year gap between the rapture and the 7 year Tribulation - time for the Seals to be opened.

Genesis 41:45 And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-Paaneah. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. 46 Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt. … 50 And to Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, ... 53 Then the seven years of plenty which were in the land of Egypt ended, 54 and the seven years of famine began to come, as Joseph had said.

The 5th Seal Martyrs ask how long before God judges and avenges their blood. If the 7 years had already started, they would know how long.

Revelation 6:9 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

7 SEALS OF REVELATION (Revelation 6-8)

Recall that the scroll in God’s hand is sealed with seven seals, and all seven must be opened in order to see what is inside – to reveal the vision that Daniel saw in Daniel 10-12.

Daniel 12 - Prophecy of the End Time

Dan 12:1 “At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people;
And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time.

4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse
- We’ve already seen these guys in Zechariah
- Things are quiet in Zechariah 1, but later God sends out four teams of differently-colored horses hauling chariots to bring judgment on Babylon, the nation that has oppressed his people
- The four horsemen of the Apocalypse, like those in Zechariah, have been patrolling the earth. And now God calls them forth to bring judgement upon the earth and its inhabitants, just as they brought judgement on Babylon
- 1/4 of the earth’s population is killed in the wake of the first four horsemen of the Apocalypse!

Zechariah 1 – Vision of the Horses

Zechariah 6 – Vision of the Four Chariots

Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24) lays the foundation for the tribulation!

Matthew 24 - The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

Seals (Human-caused events) --> Trumpets (Divine-caused events)

Moving from the seven seals to the seven trumpets escalates the catastrophes from human-caused events on the earth’s surface to divine-caused events pummeling the earth from above.

The actions of the four horsemen mirror the actions triggered by sinful men:
- enforced peace
- all-out war
- famine
- death
In contrast, the first four trumpets mirror the cataclysmic actions of nature:
- hail and fire, mixed with blood
- a large, burning mountain is hurled into the sea
- a star like a flaming torch falls to earth
- the sun, moon and stars go dark

The seven seals are one of a series of end-times judgments from God. The seals are described in Revelation 6:1–17 and 8:1–5. In John’s vision, the seven seals hold closed a scroll in heaven, and, as each seal is broken, a new judgment is unleashed on the earth. Following the seal judgments are the trumpet judgments and the bowl or vial judgments.

The prelude to the opening of the seven seals in John’s vision is a search for someone worthy to open the heavenly scroll in Revelation 5. John writes, “I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals” (Revelation 5:1). This scroll contains the judgments of God; the fact that it is written on both sides indicates the extensive nature of the judgment pending. A mighty angel cries out, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” (verse 2). No one was found worthy of breaking the seals and opening the scroll, a fact that causes John to mourn (verse 3–4). If the scroll could not be opened, then wickedness would not be judged and evil would continue to infect the earth.

As John is weeping over the unopened scroll and its unbroken seven seals, he receives good news: “The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals” (Revelation 5:5). “Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne. . . . He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne” (verses 6–7). This is a picture of Jesus Christ, the Lamb who was slain who is also the Lion of judgment. Jesus is the only one worthy to judge the world (cf. John 5:22). As He takes the scroll to open the seals and pronounce judgment on the unbelieving world, the beings in heaven glorify Him with a new song:

“You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
. . .
Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!” (verses 9 and 12).

Amid the worship due to Him, the Lamb begins to open the seals (Revelation 6:1). With each seal opened, the scroll is able to be unrolled a little more, revealing bit by bit the judgments God has in store during the tribulation period. The first four of the seven seals release what are known as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, because the judgments appear symbolically as a horse and rider bringing devastation in their wake.

The first seal. The first seal introduces the Antichrist (Revelation 6:1–2). From the biblical description, we gather several details: he rides a white horse, which speaks of peace; at the beginning of the tribulation, the Antichrist will come under the pretense of bringing peace to the world (cf. Daniel 9:27). He is given a crown, which indicates that the Antichrist will exercise great authority (cf. Daniel 7:24–25). He holds a bow, which shows his true intentions, and he advances “as a conqueror bent on conquest” (Revelation 6:2).

The second seal. When the Lamb opens the second seal, great warfare breaks out on the earth (Revelation 6:3–4). This is symbolized by a rider with a large sword on a fiery red horse.

The third seal. The breaking of the third of the seven seals causes famine (Revelation 6:5–6). The rider that John sees is riding a black horse and “holding a pair of scales in his hand.” Then John hears a declaration that people will have to work all day to earn just a little food.

The fourth seal. The fourth seal is opened, and John sees a pale horse. “Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him” (Revelation 6:7–8). The result of this fourth seal is that one fourth of the earth’s population are killed “by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.”

The fifth seal. The scroll’s fifth seal reveals those who will be martyred for their faith in Christ during the tribulation (Revelation 6:9–11; cf. Matthew 24:9). The souls of these martyrs are pictured as dwelling under the altar in heaven. God hears their cries for justice, and He gives each of them a white robe. The martyrs are told to wait “until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.” God promises to avenge them, but the time was not yet (cf. Romans 12:19).

The sixth seal. When the Lamb of God opens the sixth seal, a devastating earthquake occurs, causing massive upheaval and terrible devastation—along with unusual astronomical phenomena: the sun turns black, and the moon turns blood-red, and “the heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place” (Revelation 6:12–14). Survivors of the sixth seal, regardless of their social position, take refuge in caves and cry out to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” (verses 16–17).

After the opening of the sixth of the seven seals is an interlude in the book of Revelation. John describes the 144,000 Jews who will be protected during the tribulation (Revelation 7:1–8). Then, in heaven, he sees “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” (verse 9). These people wear white robes, hold palm branches, and shout:

“Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb” (verse 10).

John is told who this white-clad multitude is:

“These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb” (verse 14).

They are given the promise that “‘Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat. . . .
‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes’” (verses 16–17; cf. Isaiah 25:8; 49:10).

The seventh seal. When the Lamb opens the seventh seal, “there was silence in heaven for about half an hour” (Revelation 8:1). The judgments that lead up to the close of the tribulation are now visible in the scroll and are so severe that a solemn silence falls upon all of heaven. The seventh seal obviously introduces the next series of judgments, for John immediately sees seven angels who are handed seven trumpets ready to sound (verse 2). An eighth angel takes a censer and burns “much incense” in it, representing the prayers of God’s people (verses 3–4). The angel then took the same censer, “filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake” (verse 5).

Once the seven seal judgments are finished, the next part of the tribulation, featuring the seven trumpet judgments, is ready to begin.

Bow (no arrow) – Enforced peace
Crown – Royal authority

The white horse speaks of victory, but the rider on the white horse in Revelation carries an arrowless bow τόξον [takh’- son], a weapon of war; thus, the image suggests “enforced peace,” or order “by the barrel of a gun.” The rider wears a crown, indicating that he has royal authority, much as Titus entered Jerusalem to enforce peace in A.D. 70, resulting in the destruction of the Temple, the city and the deaths of 1.2 million Jews.

Roman generals entered Rome in a triumphal procession after a victory in battle, riding in a chariot drawn by white horses up the Capitoline Hill to the Temple of Jupiter.

- Note – Nowhere in Scripture does it state that the covenant is MADE for 7 years, only that it LASTS 7 years
- Another possibility - Antichrist may be 'revealed' in another way before the Dan 9:27 confirming of the covenant.
  - Perhaps the Seals happen (Matthew 24 birth pains) and THEN Antichrist confirms the covenant to start the 7 year Tribulation (Trumpet and Bowl judgments)

Tribulation – Time of God’s Wrath

We Are not appointed to God’s wrath – The Tribulation is a time when GOD’s wrath will be poured out on the unrighteous. The wrath that should have been hurled at you and poured out on me was absorbed by our hero, our Lord, our savior on the cross of Calgary.

Your excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us just how devastating a global cross border threat can be. Climate change and biodiversity loss are no different. In fact, they pose an even greater existential threat to the extent that we have to put ourselves on what might be called a war like footing. Having myself had the opportunity of consulting many of you over these past 18 months, I know you all carry a heavy burden on your shoulders and you do not need me to tell you that the eyes and hopes of the world are upon you to act with all dispatch and decisively because time has quite literally run out. The recent IPCC Report gave us a clear diagnosis of a scale of the problem. We know what we must do. With a growing global population creating ever increasing demand on the planet’s finite resources, we have to reduce emissions urgently and take action to tackle the carbon already in the atmosphere, including from coal fired power stations.

Putting a value on carbon, thus making carbon capture solutions more economical, is therefore absolutely critical. Similarly, after billions of years of evolution, nature is our best teacher. In this regard, restoring natural capital, accelerating nature based solutions, and leveraging the circular bio economy will be vital to our efforts. As we tackle this crisis, our efforts cannot be a series of independent initiatives running in parallel. The scale and scope of the threat we face call for a global systems level solution based on radically transforming our current fossil fuel based economy to one that is genuinely renewable and sustainable. So ladies and gentleman, my plea today is for countries to come together to create the environment that enables every sector of industry to take the action required. We know this will take trillions, not billions of dollars.

We also know that countries, many of whom are burdened by growing levels of debt, simply cannot afford to go green. Here we need a vast military style campaign to marsh the strength of the global private sector, with trillions at his disposal far beyond global GDP, and with the greatest respect, beyond even the governments of the world’s leaders. It offers the only real prospect of achieving fundamental economic transition. So how do we do it? First, how do we get the private sector all pulling in the same direction? After nearly two years now of consultation, CEOs have told me that we need to bring together global industries to map out in very practical terms what it will take to make the transition. We know from the pandemic that the private sector can speed up timelines dramatically when everyone agrees on the urgency and the direction. So each sector needs a clear strategy to speed up the process of getting innovations to market.

Second, who pays and how? We need to align private investment behind these industry strategies to help finance the transition efforts, which means building the confidence of investors so that the financial risk is reduced. Crucially, investment is needed to help transition from coal to clean energy. If we can develop a pipeline of many more sustainable and bankable projects at a sufficient scale, it will attract greater investment. Third, which switches do we flick to enable these objectives? More than 300 of the world’s leading CEOs and institutional investors have told me that alongside the promises countries have made, their nationally determined contributions, they need clear market signals, agree globally so that they have the confidence to invest without the goal posts suddenly moving. This is the framework I’ve offered in the Terra Carta Roadmap, created by my Sustainable Markets Initiative, with nearly 100 specific actions for acceleration.

Together, we are working to drive trillions of dollars in support of transition across 10 of the most emitting and polluting industries. They include energy, agriculture, transportation, health systems, and fashion. The reality of today’s global supply chains means that industry transition will affect every country and every producer in the world. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the private sector is ready to play its part and to work with governments to find a way forward. The rider on the fiery red horse follows the rider on the white horse, breaking the enforced peace and triggering all-out war.

Symbolism

The identification of the second rider is unknown. He is simply the one who sits on the red horse. He is arriving onto a world stage that has been prepared by the conquering first rider. The power of this rider is to remove peace from the earth and cause people to kill one another. Like the first rider and his crown, this rider is given a device with which to accomplish his mission, a great sword. While this study will cover each of these points, it will deal primarily with the power of this rider and the resultant carnage created by it. After all, understanding how this rider with a great sword wields power that removes peace from the earth, which in turn causes people to kill one another, is very important.

The World Stage is Set

Just like the first rider, the second will come onto the scene at the perfect moment. He will arrive like one who harvests fruit at just the right time, inasmuch as the remaining populace of the earth will be living in a day that finds the restrainer removed and lawlessness flourishing (2 Thess 2:6). Paul speaks of the mystery of lawlessness already at work in his day, nearly two thousand years ago. Additionally, this lawlessness is already escalating on this side of the rapture. One can only imagine how wicked society will become when the one who restrains is taken out of the way.

Anger is also building, and when this rider arrives, he will apply the necessary impetus to incite violence on a grand scale. The difference between this moment and any before is the scope of this rider’s influence. His ride will impact the entire populace of the world, as noted by the fact that he will “take peace from the earth.” Notice this statement does not limit his influence to a portion. Instead, by implication, his ride will inflame the entire population of the planet. The question is, how does he accomplish this? A brief explanation of each of the four riders may help with this question.

Each rider is given a distinct power:

The first rider may come in the name of a movement that is currently sweeping the world into the insanity of adopting the LGBTQ-championed denial of the distinct genders created by God, in an attempt to bring confusion from which he will conquer.
The second rider will have the ability to take peace from the world. Perhaps he will capitalize upon another bizarre movement that is already spreading like a cancer throughout the entire world, Critical Race Theory.
The third rider will bring famine that might arise from another movement afoot that is attempting to shift power from individual farmers to government entities who desire to be the ‘end all’ to all. This shift is currently being accomplished by establishing artificial shortages, which will ultimately run the small farmer, distributor, and even the local stores out of business.
The final rider is the culmination of the first three. He will act out his namesake—death, and hell will follow as one-fourth of the earth suffers carnage by sword, hunger, plague, and wild beasts. This ‘fourth part of the earth’ is explained in the article “Back to Babylon.” [2]

Jesus spoke of this time in his Olivet discourse when explaining the coming Tribulation (Matt 24). He informed his disciples that deception would plague men in the last days. He then began to lay out this same format of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Beginning in verse five, he explains that many would come in His name, by way of deception, claiming to be Christ (1st rider). In verses six and seven, he warns of wars and rumors of wars followed by nation rising against nation and kingdom against kingdom (2nd rider). In the second half of verse seven, he speaks of famines (3rd rider), followed by pestilences (4th rider). Jesus goes on to speak of the Tribulation up until his return and the need to remain faithful while waiting. The first rider has been addressed in the article First Horseman of the Apocalypse. [3] Now on to the second rider.

The Red Horse

Like the first horseman, the second rides a horse which is the color of the nature of the rider. Albeit it, the first horseman only imitated the purity intended by his white horse. The second rider, however, is described as one who is in perfect sync with the nature intended by the color of the horse, red.

Throughout history, red has often indicated anger, fury, and even war. There is even an old phrase used for someone who is cross which confirms this, “They are so mad, they are seeing red.” This rider is subsequent to the first who went forth conquering and to conquer (Rev 6:2). That rider, which was noted to be the Antichrist, set the stage for this rider by dividing those who remain on the earth after the rapture (Rev 4:1) into differing camps based on ideology. Therefore, the actions of the first horseman prime the inhabitants of the earth for the second rider.

This horse that depicts war will rapidly traverse the earth carrying its rider who brings conflict by removing peace. Remember, the Antichrist (the first rider) will come as one who brings false peace (Dan 8:25); perhaps, he will come as a champion of those who were once thought of as the minority. He may even co-opt another movement calling for “equity”; this could explain how he even beguiles the Jewish nation into thinking he is their answer. Remember, he will affirm the very peace agreement which initiates the countdown of the tribulation period (Dan 9:27), the timeframe known as the “time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jer 30:7; Matt 24).

Following false peace, the second rider will bring unprecedented discord. This is evident by the fact that the effect of this rider is upon all peoples of the earth, even down to individuals. Just like the first rider, the second is ‘given’ something to accomplish his task, power and a sword.

The Second Rider is Given Power to Take Peace Away

As noted, the second rider is given the unique power to take away the peace of men. Perhaps the best way to do so is to enhance division. Close examination of the text indicates this is exactly what this rider will do. Remember, he has the power to take peace away and cause men to kill one another.

People only kill one another if they have come to a place of insufferable differences. In other words, these people will be so divided that they can see no way to coexist. This will be the state of mind of the people of the earth because of the influence of the first rider; he will, by championing lies, cause the earth’s populace to begin to separate along ideological lines. The second rider will capitalize upon this division and enlarge the breach into an insurmountable obstacle. This will cause men to turn on one another, and neighbor will begin to kill neighbor. Worse yet, family members will be turning on one another as well.

Ironically, the beginnings of what may culminate in this great divide may already be manifesting in the form of what Jesus foretold in the aforementioned Olivet discourse; nation is rising against nation. Nation is translated from the Greek word ‘ethnos,’ which stands for race. Therefore, Critical Race Theory and other movements calling for equity seem to be priming the pump of racial hatred, especially in the countries mentioned as the possible proverbial hot seat of the coming carnage to visit one-quarter of the earth. This is discussed in great detail in the article “Back to Babylon.” [4] Indeed, the teaching of this racially charged curriculum is preparing the people of the world to fulfill a prophecy spoken by Christ almost two thousand years ago:

Matthew 10:21 “And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.”

The second rider will capitalize on the division created by the first rider and further the divide by convincing each group that their position is the correct position. Remember, only one group is actually correct, Christians. This blood-bought group, in believing that Jesus paid the price for their sins by dying for them; resurrected on the third day; and ascended to the Father, will be taken from the earth in the rapture, before the ride of the red horse. Therefore, the dominant beliefs left on the earth will all be worldly views crafted by men. These worldviews will undoubtedly clash and lead to utter chaos. With this in mind, it is clear to see this rider’s power is most effective by way of division, which is another aspect of what a ‘great sword’ is.

The Great Sword

Swords are made primarily for warfare. The sword given to the second rider is “great.” This implies that the sword is either large or very effective, or both. Perhaps the best way to view this particular sword is to see it as not just a sword but as an implement used by the second rider of the Apocalypse to ‘cleave’ the already divided populace into fearsome factions bent on the destruction of the others. Agreed, the overall image portrayed by a sword is one of warfare. However, the result of a strong blow from a ‘great sword’ is the dividing asunder of two parts of whatever the target may be. No doubt, this rider will fulfill the words of Christ and divide kingdoms and nations. However, the text indicates the intended recipient is ultimately all of the earth. In other words, this division will impact all people down to the individual level.

This is Not an Ordinary War

Yes, the sword indicates war; however, this war will be like none before it. For the first time, people of every stripe will strive to kill one another. In former world wars, nations did rise against nations, and peoples rose against peoples. However, in the midst of the great carnage was a cry for peace. This will, presumably, not be the case during the ride of the second horseman. Remember, his power is to ‘remove’ peace from the earth. Currently, it is hard to imagine a time when everyone desires to kill one another. However, by looking ahead to the culminating ride of the fourth horseman, one could see that peace is even removed from the wild beasts, who will kill people during this awful time (Rev 6:8). No, this will not be an ordinary war.

Due to the current world-shaping pandemic, people are already clamoring for things to return to normal or “ordinary.” Unfortunately, the first rider is set to ride, and he will be followed by a rapid succession of riders, which will culminate with those who survive concealing themselves in caves and rocks while calling for the very rocks and mountains to fall upon them in order to hide them from the “face of God and His great day of wrath” (Rev 6:15-17). Too late, they will realize they have entered into the foretold period of God’s judgment known as the “great day of His wrath.”

One can already sense that things will never return to normal. The ordinary is a thing of the past. Indeed, the world is being prepared, by the powers that be, to accept the deluded one who rides a white horse to commence the period warned of for so long, the Tribulation. The second rider will ride shortly thereafter. Knowing what to do in order to survive such a period is paramount. After all, the second rider is just one of four, and the rider only makes up a fraction of the pending judgment. In total, the world will experience judgments in the form of seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls. The earth will be forever changed as a result of God’s judgment and simultaneous remodeling for the millennial reign (Rev 20:1-3).

How to Overcome

Surviving this time of great peril will be extremely difficult. However, God has made a way for those who miss the rapture to overcome. If you find this article after the rapture, another article, ‘Open Letter to Those Who Miss the Rapture,’ was written to you.[5] Ultimately, just like the raptured Christians, anyone who finds themselves in the Tribulation must rely solely on Jesus Christ. He is the only way to overcome, as illustrated by the words of the apostle John about this time of woes:

Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

The Son of God has already shed His blood. Now, during the most difficult time to do so, the one who comes to faith after the rapture must testify of Jesus openly. This will only be possible if one understands and lives by the third announcement of Revelation 12:11, “and they loved not their lives unto the death.” One of the primary foes for the new believer during the Tribulation will be the desire by many to kill anyone who ‘testifies’ of Jesus. However, this testimony is the only way to actually overcome. The words of Jesus describe this circumstance very well; “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matt 10:32-33).

Clearly, trusting in and testifying of Jesus, who died for all and rose again on the third day, is the only way to overcome (Rom 10:9). Ultimately, all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Rom 10:13). Think of it this way: if life hangs in the balance, the name upon which one calls will determine their eternal future.

Conclusion

The second of four riders will bring a time of unprecedented hatred. One only has to look around at their own community to see the beginnings of this. The pandemic has provided a great snapshot of the division already afoot. Injections and masks could be leading to the division, which the first rider will seemingly address in his call for equity while championing the message of the oppressed. However, this synthetic unity will collapse because it is rooted in selfishness. Each group – worse yet – each person will desire to be their own champion (2 Tim 3:1-5). This will lead to the second rider who awaits the perfect moment to burst onto a scene that only seems peaceful. He will elucidate the differences of those involved, and like a yo-yo, the populace will change direction from faux peace toward carnage at the local level.

Albert Pike received a vision, which he described in a letter that he wrote to Mazzini, dated August 15, 1871. This letter graphically outlined plans for three world wars that were seen as necessary to bring about the One World Order, and we can marvel at how accurately it has predicted events that have already taken place.

It is a commonly believed fallacy that for a short time, the Pike letter to Mazzini was on display in the British Museum Library in London, and it was copied by William Guy Carr, former Intelligence Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy. The British Library has confirmed in writing to me that such a document has never been in their possession. Furthermore, in Carr's book, Satan, Prince of this World, Carr includes the following footnote:

"The Keeper of Manuscripts recently informed the author that this letter is NOT catalogued in the British Museum Library. It seems strange that a man of Cardinal Rodriguez's knowledge should have said that it WAS in 1925".

It appears that Carr learned about this letter from Cardinal Caro y Rodriguez of Santiago, Chile, who wrote The Mystery of Freemasonry Unveiled.

To date, no conclusive proof exists to show that this letter was ever written. Nevertheless, the letter is widely quoted and the topic of much discussion.

Following are apparently extracts of the letter, showing how Three World Wars have been planned for many generations.

[a] The First World War

This war was to be battled out so as to enable the Illuminati to overthrow the powers of the Czars in Russia, and turn Russia into a strong fortress of Atheistic-Communism. The differences stirred by the Agentur [agents] of the Illuminati between German and British Empires were to be used to forment this first world war. Then when the war has ended, Communism was to be built up and used to destroy other governments and to weaken religions. And if so, this happened, it was world war 1. Ooooh! So the war was really planned?

"The First World War must be brought about in order to permit the Illuminati to overthrow the power of the Czars in Russia and making that country a fortress of atheistic Communism. The divergences caused by the "agentur" [agents] of the Illuminati between the British and Germanic Empires will be used to foment this war. At the end of the war, Communism will be built and used to destroy the other governments and in order to weaken religions."

[b] The Second World War-- World War 2

"The Second World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences between the Fascists and the political Zionists. This war must be brought about so that Nazism is destroyed and that the political Zionism be strong enough to institute a sovereign state of Israel in Palestine. During the Second World War, International Communism must become strong enough in order to balance Christendom, which would be then restrained and held in check until the time when we would need it for the final social cataclysm."

Mmmm...So World War Two was also planned? Maybe Conspiracy Theorists may be right on this.

[c] The Third World War--- it said to be the last.

"The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by " Agentur [agents]" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Muslim Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other.

[My comment - am I the only one that sees the Afghanistan debacle as the stage-setting for this? I can't find anything about it! Prior to Biden giving the Taliban $83 billion of advanced US weaponry, this could never have happened. Now Iran is almost nuclear, the Taliban has our most sophisticated weaponry, and it is only a matter of time.]

Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion...We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil.

Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in public view.

This is what is believed to be the letter of Albert Pike, the 33rd degree Freemason, to Giuseppe Mazzni, and the Letter is said to have been in the British Museum Library in London until 1977.

It should be stated right from the start that Pike’s Three World Wars letter is a controversial topic and there are serious doubts about its authenticity.

Some state it never existed, others think it’s fake, and there naturally those who consider it to be genuine. The prophecy letter was mentioned in William Guy Carr’s Book entitled Pawns in the Game, which was published in 1958.

According to Pike’s first prophecy, World War 1 was planned to overthrow the Tsars in Russia and make Russia a communist stronghold.

His next prophecy was about World War 2 that he said sparked as a catalyst to destroy Nazism. The true purpose of WWII was that communism could take over wearier governments and for a sovereign state of Israel to be set up in Palestine.

The third masonic prophecy deals with WWIII and Pike said the global war will be fought between the west and leaders of the Islamic war. The letter allegedly said: "The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the 'agentur' of the 'Illuminati' between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World.

The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other.

Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual, and economical exhaustion.

We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, the origin of savagery, and of the most bloody turmoil.

In his book, Carr writes that “Pike told Mazzini that after World War Three is ended, those who aspire to undisputed world domination will provoke the greatest social cataclysm the world has ever known.”

If Pike’s letter really exists, it would be interesting to know its whereabouts. It was originally claimed the text was on show at the British Museum's Library and was mysteriously taken down in the 1970s and never seen again.

However, the British Museum and the British Library deny knowledge of its existence. Both the British Museum and the British Library confirmed there is no record of the letter being in the establishment's possession.

Adam Weishaupt (1748 – 1811) formed the Order of Perfectibilists on May 1, 1776 (to this day celebrated as May Day throughout many western countries), which later became known as the Illuminati, a secret society whose name means "Enlightened Ones". Although the Order was founded to provide an opportunity for the free exchange of ideas, Weishaupt’s background as a Jesuit seems to have influenced the actual character of the society, such that the express aim of this Order became to abolish Christianity, and overturn all civil government.

An Italian revolutionary leader, Giusseppe Mazzini (1805-1872), a 33rd degree Mason, was selected by the Illuminati to head their worldwide operations in 1834. (Mazzini also founded the Mafia in 1860). Because of Mazzini’s revolutionary activities in Europe, the Bavarian government cracked down on the Illuminati and other secret societies for allegedly plotting a massive overthrow of Europe’s monarchies. As the secrets of the Illuminati were revealed, they were persecuted and eventually disbanded, only to re-establish themselves in the depths of other organizations, of which Freemasonry was one.

During his leadership, Mazzini enticed Albert Pike into the (now formally disbanded, but still operating) Illuminati. Pike was fascinated by the idea of a one world government, and when asked by Mazzini, readily agreed to write a ritual tome that guided the transition from average high-ranking mason into a top-ranking Illuminati mason (33rd degree). Since Mazzini also wanted Pike to head the Illuminati’s American chapter, he clearly felt Pike was worthy of such a task. Mazzini’s intention was that once a mason had made his way up the Freemason ladder and proven himself worthy, the highest ranking members would offer membership to the secret ‘society within a society’.

It is for this reason that most Freemasons vehemently deny the evil intentions of their fraternity. Since the vast majority never reach the 30th degree, they would not be aware of the real purpose behind Masonry. When instructing Pike how the tome should be developed, Mazzini wrote the following to Pike in a letter dated January 22, 1870. Remember that Freemasonry wasn’t started by Pike – rather it was infiltrated by the Illuminati who were looking for a respectable forum in which to hide their clandestine activities:

"We must allow all the federations to continue just as they are, with their systems, their central authorities and their diverse modes of correspondence between high grades of the same rite, organized as they are at the present, but we must create a super rite, which will remain unknown, to which we will call those Masons of high degree whom we shall select. With regard to our brothers in Masonry, these men must be pledges to the strictest secrecy. Through this supreme rite, we will govern all Freemasonry which will become the one international center, the more powerful because its direction will be unknown." 1

In 1871, Pike published the 861 page Masonic handbook known as the Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

After Mazzini’s death on March 11, 1872, Pike appointed Adriano Lemmi (1822-1896, 33rd degree Mason), a banker from Florence, Italy, to run their subversive activities in Europe. Lemmi was a supporter of patriot and revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi, and may have been active in the Luciferian Society founded by Pike. Lemmi, in turn, was succeeded by Lenin and Trotsky, then by Stalin. The revolutionary activities of all these men were financed by British, French, German, and American international bankers; all of them dominated by the House of Rothschild.

Between 1859 and 1871, Pike worked out a military blueprint for three world wars and various revolutions throughout the world which he considered would forward the conspiracy to its final stage in the 20th Century.

In addition to the Supreme Council in Charleston, South Carolina, Pike established Supreme Councils in Rome, Italy (led by Mazzini); London, England (led by Palmerston); and Berlin, Germany (led by Bismarck). He set up 23 subordinate councils in strategic places throughout the world, including five Grand Central Directories in Washington, DC (North America), Montevideo (South America), Naples (Europe), Calcutta (Asia), and Mauritius (Africa), which were used to gather information. All of these branches have been the secret headquarters for the Illuminati’s activities ever since.

Pike’s Letter to Mazzini

It is a commonly believed fallacy that for a short time, the Pike letter to Mazzini was on display in the British Museum Library in London, and it was copied by William Guy Carr, former Intelligence Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy. The British Library has confirmed in writing to me that such a document has never been in their possession. Furthermore, in Carr’s book, Satan, Prince of this World, Carr includes the following footnote:

"The Keeper of Manuscripts recently informed the author that this letter is NOT catalogued in the British Museum Library. It seems strange that a man of Cardinal Rodriguez’s knowledge should have said that it WAS in 1925".

It appears that Carr learned about this letter from Cardinal Caro y Rodriguez of Santiago, Chile, who wrote The Mystery of Freemasonry Unveiled.

Following are apparently extracts of the letter, showing how Three World Wars have been planned for many generations.

"The First World War must be brought about in order to permit the Illuminati to overthrow the power of the Czars in Russia and of making that country a fortress of atheistic Communism. The divergences caused by the "agentur" (agents) of the Illuminati between the British and Germanic Empires will be used to foment this war. At the end of the war, Communism will be built and used in order to destroy the other governments and in order to weaken the religions." 2

Students of history will recognize that the political alliances of England on one side and Germany on the other, forged between 1871 and 1898 by Otto von Bismarck, co-conspirator of Albert Pike, were instrumental in bringing about the First World War.

After this Second World War, Communism was made strong enough to begin taking over weaker governments. In 1945, at the Potsdam Conference between Truman, Churchill, and Stalin, a large portion of Europe was simply handed over to Russia, and on the other side of the world, the aftermath of the war with Japan helped to sweep the tide of Communism into China.

(Readers who argue that the terms Nazism and Zionism were not known in 1871 should remember that the Illuminati invented both these movements. In addition, Communism as an ideology, and as a coined phrase, originates in France during the Revolution. In 1785, Restif coined the phrase four years before revolution broke out. Restif and Babeuf, in turn, were influenced by Rousseau – as was the most famous conspirator of them all, Adam Weishaupt.)

This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time."

Since the terrorist attacks of Sept 11, 2001, world events, and in particular in the Middle East, show a growing unrest and instability between Modern Zionism and the Arabic World. This is completely in line with the call for a Third World War to be fought between the two, and their allies on both sides. This Third World War is still to come, and recent events show us that it is not far off.

- With famine comes hyperinflation, and at these prices the poor —or anyone else—could not afford to eat.
- “Do not damage the olive oil or the wine,” suggests that the olive oil and wine are even more scarce and expensive than the grain, so be very careful not to spill a drop!

With all the bad things going on right now, Americans are looking at the economy, and they’re breathing a sigh of relief, thinking, “At least that’s going well.” And it is… for now. But even there, catastrophes are looming on the horizon. The Bible tells us about a series of major economic swings soon to come. And this week, the New York Post reported “The next crash will be worse than the great depression.” What’s coming? We’re about to find out…

The book of Revelation talks about two worldwide economic downturns that will follow the rise of Antichrist. One will almost destroy the poor and what will be left of the middle class, but it won’t touch the wealthy. The other will be total collapse hitting everyone from the richest to the poorest.

But Scripture gives us a hint of another economic crisis — this one to take place before the beginning of the Tribulation period. According to Revelation 13, when the Antichrist and False Prophet come to power, they will be given complete control of the global economy — more than anyone even dreamed of in the past. No one in the world will be able to buy or sell without the Antichrist’s mark.

What could possibly precipitate that? The world’s leaders will have to be so desperate that they will be willing to give the Antichrist complete control over the thing most leaders love best — money. A run-of-the-mill recession wouldn’t do that. It would take something HUGE. It seems logical that the Antichrist’s rise to worldwide power will be precipitated by a global economic meltdown. And it’s amazing how close we live to such a meltdown every day.

The news agency AFP recently reported, “The Bank of International Settlements [BIS] said Sunday “The global economy risked a ‘relapse’ of the crisis that rocked it a decade ago.” BIS economist Claudio Borio said, “There is little left in the medicine chest to nurse the patient back to health or care for him in case of a relapse.”

What does that mean? Basically, there’s no more bullets in the gun. There are no more solutions to the economy. Except… the Mark of the Beast.

In the past, nations lowered interest rates in times of economic distress. But today twenty-six nations have interest rates at zero or below — and they are not the ones you might expect. They include almost all the EU countries, including the economic powerhouses of Germany and France.

Zero interest was once an extreme measure used only in dire economic emergencies. Long term economic health and stability requires people to save money. But zero interest is designed to get people to borrow money — and not save it.

Japan, Denmark, Switzerland, Singapore, and Sweden have gone further than that. They have negative interest rates. That means the government penalizes savers. With negative interest, instead of receiving interest on your savings, you would pay the bank for the privilege of storing your money there. On the other hand, negative interest means they pay people to borrow money. That’s crazy! I mean, literally crazy.

It is unsustainable! It means that even in these supposedly good economic times, these nations are desperate! And it has gone on for years. The world’s leaders are walking on a tightrope over hungry alligators, and it can’t last.

Peter Schiff, chief strategist for Euro Pacific Capital, said of the next downturn, “We won’t be able to call it a recession, it’s going to be worse than the Great Depression.”

Don’t put your trust in the world system. Put your trust in God. He promises to care for us even when the world falls apart. Remember the 23rd Psalm? “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” It’s still true, and will remain true. Just make sure that He is your shepherd.

Not long ago, I had a conversation with a Christian financial advisor who openly stated that the Lord tells him where to invest. For example, some years ago he claimed that the Lord told him “to sell stocks in 2005.” During the more recent conversation, he told me that the Spirit told him to put all his clients into gold and that the euro was going to fall apart because France was going to leave the European Union in 2011. He advertises his services heavily on a Christian radio station.

Recently, while attending a Christian conference, I listened to a presentation from a financial advisor. It was an hour of predictions and opinions, charts, stories and secular wisdom. While he did not claim that the Lord gave him his predictions, some people would likely have thought that his views were divinely endorsed. After all, he was an advisor invited to give his views at a Christian conference offering apologetics and prophecy instruction from some well-known teachers. This advisor heavily promoted the purchase of gold bullion.

The fact that he had recommended the purchase of gold throughout the 1980s and 1990s (a long period of declining gold prices) was conveniently ignored.

Understandably, neither of these men was dispensing infallible prophecies. In the case of the first advisor, his forecasts have also not proven to be accurate in the past. As it was, U.S. stock markets continued to soar another three years until 2008. In the case of his most recent “prophecy,” that France would leave the euro in 2011, yes, it surely is possible that some countries could yet exit from the euro. However, any non-spiritually-guided analyst can already see that possibility.

The second advisor mentioned only two Bible verses throughout his presentation … and these, popularly, from Proverbs. Other than that, I could not distinguish this presentation from perhaps thousands of other sales pitches and stories that I have heard in the secular world. Moreover, the advice was not suitable for the vast majority of people at the conference.

We can be reasonably sure, therefore, that neither advisor is likely to be accurate about the future (though it is true that a stopped watch will be correct at least twice a day). The fact that the price of gold has been rising in recent times, only serves to make these advisors more dangerous, as people will be inclined to chase after their “godly” advice without regard to the fact that they have been wrong in the past. Unfortunately, many Christians are prey today, though the teachings of the Bible should protect against this. The Bible counsels: “That wehenceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive” (Ephesians 4:14).

Spurious, Spirit-Led Investing

A little more than a decade ago, we wrote an article entitled “Spirit-led Investing: Spurious or Inspired?” (See Midnight Call magazine, October 1999). At the time, our intent was to warn people against false prophets and financial advisors masquerading as Spirit-led money prophets. These certainly still exist today. Moreover, at least a few of them are widely revered and endorsed in Christian circles. People hang on to their every word as if divinely endorsed. For this and other reasons, the matter is serious enough to raise again.

Several additional reasons prompt us to revisit this topic. Firstly, it touches on a much wider field—namely, profiteering on Bible prophecy. Some ministries derive profits by selling products and courses that will help people prepare for certain prophesied events, economic collapse, or to survive the Tribulation period. Such activities seem to have grown in recent years since the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) erupted.

Given that America itself has borne the brunt of the subsequent economic trials and has visibly weakened relative to the rest of the world, the doom merchants appear to be prospering. While the prophecies in the Bible will surely prove to be true, we are not given the exact calendar dates. To offer “survival” items for sale, one implicitly is forecasting the near fulfillment of specific events or that Christians will go through the Tribulation.

Secondly, it seems that many ministries and pulpits these days take it upon themselves to provide economic and financial perspectives to their flocks, this being different than focusing on stewardship. There is no harm in teaching the latter, so long as investing is not confused for stewardship. To be a good steward does not necessarily require one to be an investor, nor, for example, to buy a mutual fund. Some ministries urge Christians to buy gold and silver; dump the U.S. dollar; or, to jump out of their securities investments … etc.

As it is, even trained economists and financial strategists have a terrible record in making these kinds of predictions. If so, why would Christians have a better success rate in making such predictions from the pulpit? The answer is that, over time, they do not. The consequence? They are actually causing a disservice, falling into the same “booby trap” as the vast masses. Even more worrisome, they may be neglecting to teach on topics of greater eternal value.

A third reason is this: It is a stated Biblical fact that the two domains of Mammon (we choose to capitalize this name) and the Kingdom of God are oppositional.

Holy Spirit Never Tempts Mankind to Mammon

The Kingdom of God and Mammon have nothing to do with each other (“Ye cannot serve God and Mammon,” Matthew 6:24). Only one of them can be served. By definition, that must also mean that neither of these two domains can be in the service of each other. This is only logical and leads to these two deductions. Firstly, Mammon has no interest in teaching us how to better worship God. It will never do this. Secondly, God is hardly inclined to tempt his children to become ensnared or preoccupied with the things of Mammon.

What follows, therefore, is this conclusion: God is not disposed to send “Spirit-led advisors” for the purpose of enabling his children to better compete and succeed in the world of Mammon. That should come as no surprise. The witness of the Bible supports this statement. Nowhere in the Bible can we find any example of the Holy Spirit assisting people in accumulating wealth. To the contrary, in the one instance where a spirit (demon in this case) is stated to make moneymaking prophecies through a young damsel (Acts 16:16), the Apostle Paul drove it out of her.

We further reflect on the fact that nowhere in the Bible is any Old Testament prophet shown to be profiting from Spirit-led advice or the “word of the Lord” or from visions. Not once. In fact, again, quite to the contrary. Not once did Jesus Christ ever give any investment advice or insights as to how to turn Mammon into a Golden Goose, except in one way. That was to take advantage of worldly wealth to build riches in heaven. The parable of the Unjust Servant illustrated this great lesson: “And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations” (Luke 16:9).

No Prophets of Profit

Anyone who has made an inaccurate forecast proves that he is not a prophet of God and should be ignored. In the Old Testament, a key identifier of a true prophet was accuracy; not just for one out of 10 prophecies, as may happen today in the personal prophecy movement, but each and every time.

Said Moses, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him. (Deuteronomy 18: 21-22).

Claiming to be a “Spirit-led” investment adviser is claiming to be a “seer” and of being able to look into the future. Good stewardship advice is obviously beneficial. However, the next time an individual makes the claim of being a “Spirit-led” investor, alarms should ring.

A Rigged, Treacherous Scheme

The unpoliced world of Mammon is a treacherous place. Please never forget that the “love of money” (1 Timothy 6:10) is the greatest vulnerability of mankind. It is at the very root of all evils, and the major leverage point that Satan has to enlist humans to carry out his endtime plans of insurrection, as the Bible outlines.

In practical terms, however, what does this actually mean? It signifies that a godless world will make “Money” (Mammon) its idol and object of worship and aspiration. That means there are 6.8 billion people in the world today that are either vulnerable to, or committed to, doing anything possible to “get money.”

Money is therefore the nexus point of the most competitive and brutally corrupt arena that exists in the entire universe. This thorny thicket is what any saver or steward is up against when he enters the modern world of money and financial markets. Despite the fact that there are supposedly many regulatory bodies and consumer protection agencies around the globe that attempt to keep the “animal spirits” of money in check, massive financial busts, elaborate thefts and grand lying and cheating in high places will continue (and worsen). In fact, the Bible states this to be the case, even prophesying that such global conditions would be a “sign of the times.” The two visions of Zechariah found in Chapter 5 pointedly indicate that a state of “lying” and “stealing” covers the entire earth, thus leading to a curse from God.

This being the condition of the world today, no specific investment opinion can be sure, nor any one outcome guaranteed. Conditions can change rapidly and without warning. The vast majority of stewards and savers are therefore usually no match for the “experts in greed” that serve to brutally rig the global money casino.

Continuing on the Road to Prophesied Breakdown

Looking ahead, given the incredibly unprecedented and desperate financial and economic conditions around the world, anything is possible over the short-term … including a runaway stock market to the upside. Calls to invest everything in gold or to “dump” the US dollar cannot be guaranteed to be timely advice.

We must remember that the character and essence of the very last days is deception and entrapment. To that end, one last and final manipulated boom in fictitious wealth could be the “checkmate” move … the final steel bear trap that captures many more people’s hopes and leads to an even greater Global Financial Crisis. And, if it is to be the last and final boom—and we have no certainty on this point—the collapse stage will most certainly take place inside the Tribulation period, the most crushing phases in the Great Tribulation spanning the final three and one-half years.

There are a number of phases of crisis within the Tribulation period. The turbulence that the world is witnessing today signifies the build-up of tremors that finally erupt in the Tribulation period. These tremors contribute to the anguish of many people today and their susceptibility to ill-conceived solutions. They may fall prey to false prophets of prosperity, chase shadows, or uncritically run after so-called Christian money prophets who have the latest solution.

But wouldn’t buying gold bullion surely be the best solution?

Trusting in Fools’ God

No, the first solution is to get control of the affections and anxieties of our hearts. Yes, gold may be a profitable investment from time to time. Yet, it particularly attracts the zeal of Christian advisors. In fact, to my perception, many people seem to hold a near-sacred view of gold that is beyond reason—what we have dubbed “God’s Money Syndrome.” Frankly, a lot of gold bullion is sold to investors using this basic premise. However, God does not need money to do his will on earth, nor is gold the ultimate currency and the sure solution to all of mankind’s monetary problems and corruption. The historical record does not support this conclusion. Nor, crucially, does the Bible.

The Bible clearly tells us where such problems originate in the first place. Says James, “[…] for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death” (James 1:13-15).

Many people (including many Christians) imagine that gold is a good investment because it will also be accepted as a transactional metal and therefore will prove to be a good store of wealth even as world financial systems collapse. This is not a sure premise, nor are such desperate conditions likely this side of the Tribulation. In any case, there is no reason why the use of gold cannot be legislatively curtailed at some point in the future. Please do not forget that the world’s monetary systems are manipulated; its powers fiat, contrived and corrupt. As it is even now, gold cannot be used as money in any store.

In fact, the Bible tells us that a time will come when commerce—the act of buying and selling—will be controlled worldwide by the False Prophet. This system will apparently not have any role for gold. Accordingly to the Bible “[…] he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (Revelation 13:16-17). This happens after the seven seals have been opened and seven trumpets have already sounded. That would indicate a point in time in the final Great Tribulation period.

These measures introduced by the False Prophet surely imply that a barter economy (buying and selling things by trading them outside of the financial system) will have already been banned at that point. After all, only those who are qualified by the mark are able to buy and sell. We therefore see that a system will be in place that can selectively exclude anyone from an economic transaction. Such a regime could not be based upon gold.

Then, just what type of system would best offer the ability to control “buying and selling”? Would a regime like the modern-day fiat, electronic, central reserve-based monetary system be any more conducive to controlling the world’s “buying and selling”? Actually, it is already made exactly to order for such an application in the future.

Indeed, we have no idea as to the exact timing of events concerning gold, either those prophesied in the Bible or those being considered by the world’s supra-monetary and economic authorities. In any case, pre-tribulational Christians will already have been raptured by that point.

Fitting Judgment Upon Commercialism and Gold

Much earlier in the Tribulation period, after Jesus Christ opens the third seal (this likely being closer to the middle point of the first half of the Tribulation period), we already learn that people are much more concerned about food than they are gold. “And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine” (Revelation 6:6).

In a sense, this is a fitting and final judgment upon mankind. Jesus Christ counseled his followers that they need not worry about food, nor clothes and that we were valued much more than sparrows. In direct contrast, the world has built up a massive commercial/financial system that seeks to establish human and material security upon earth … and “a world free of poverty” (this being the slogan of the World Bank). It denies God any glory. As such, it will fail completely, already showing massive fracture lines even today.

Said Jesus, “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:29-31). (Interestingly, Luke prefers the better price of “five sparrows for two farthings.” See Luke 12:6-7. Apparently, shopkeepers were offering volume discounts some 2,000 years ago.)

Practical Investment Advice Needed?

What to do? Where should we steward our savings? Presented are two answers. For people living in the rich nations of the world, the second answer will likely be ridiculed. The reader can be the final judge.

I have never provided specific investment opinions in “Money: Ends n’ Trends,” instead focusing upon Biblical perspectives on world “endtime money” developments. The Bible is never wrong, certainly this applying also to its statements about the future. On the other hand, people who make timing forecasts (in other words, prophesy) about money trends or other detailed aspects of the future, will be wrong. Perhaps not always, yet it remains that one can never know when a forecaster will be right or wrong. That makes their pronouncements unreliable and dangerous.

As to the first answer, I do not know of anyone who has consistently been proven correct in providing opinions on specific investments or future trends. No such person exists. Everyone is fallible … especially, of course, when trying to predict the future. I make incorrect judgments about economies and the timing of world trends frequently. Any reference to my opinions expressed in secular publications would quickly prove that point.

With that caveat in mind, my oft-repeated counsel to investors to whom God has given financial assets to steward, is to broadly diversify one’s investments across as many asset-types as possible (including gold), as well as globally. For the majority of people, this is the safest approach to take. Yes, there definitely will be investments from time to time that appear more attractive than others. Though that may be the case, the average individual usually is not successful in capitalizing upon such opportunities. There are many reasons for this. Suffice it to say that one would need to be adept at understanding the devious and deceptive workings of Mammon (without it capturing the affections of one’s heart). Not many have such skills or dispositions.

Points to Ponder

Mostly, all of the above-mentioned notions of stewardship are earthly and fleshly attempts to establish security in this world. In essence, this is a “worldly” focus. It is not Biblical. This statement may surprise readers. It surely challenges the trained disposition of this analyst. However, we cannot void the truth of the Bible. Its perspectives are true and life-giving. We ignore its advice to our detriment.

If we believe in such things as the soon-coming return of Jesus Christ; that the gospel “is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16) —such things that the world considers madness—then surely we can put our trust in God to provide, as the following verses teach:

You cannot serve both God and money. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own(Matthew 6:25-34).

Booms, bubbles and busts will continue. All the while, the wealth skew of the world continues to widen … the rich becoming wealthier, the rest poorer and more indebted. The world is hurtling rapidly along the path that leads to the ultimate collapses revealed by the Bible to take place in the Tribulation period. The Global Financial Crisis (GFC) is not over; it continues in different forms, its full legacy still to unfold in the future. PREPARE WHILE TRUSTING IN JESUS

While you cannot out prep the Beast System or assume that your preps will save you, it is wise and Biblical to prepare for hard times.

It is much easier to buy and store food when you have money, than it is to pray that God helps you stumble upon a bag of rice or a drink of water in a great depression or famine. If you’re hungry and thirsty, you might sell out to the Antichrist for less than Esau’s bowl of soup.
Don’t take for granted that stores will have food and supplies for you to purchase at a moment’s notice. This quarantine has shown us that that is not the case. Likewise, don’t take water and electricity that you have now for granted either.

PREPARING TAKES TIME

When people think they can quickly prep for inflation… Ummm lol.

Canning takes time, dehydrating takes time, freeze drying takes time and gardening takes the most time.

LIVING OFF OTHER PEOPLE’S PREPS ISN’T A PLAN

Don’t assume that your neighbors / friends / family will share their supplies with you. It’s your job to prepare to take care of your own household. People are not likely to take on another mouth to feed simply because you’re related in really hard times.

“Do not forsake your friend and your father’s friend, and do not go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity.

Christian Preppers – Should Christians Prep?

The short answer is yes, Christians should be preppers! Unfortunately, there is much negativity about preparedness for those who don’t understand what preparedness is all about. This is true for mainstream and the Christian community. This article should help clear up some misconceptions.

Christian Preppers – Lack of Faith?

One of the biggest arguments I get when I talk about preparedness from a Christian point of view is that it shows a lack of faith in God’s provision. This couldn’t be farther from the truth!

From the very beginning, and I mean “the beginning,” man was responsible to prepare his crops for a future harvest. We see this in Genesis 2:15 NASB, “Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.”

Can you imagine Adam’s conversation with God about having to “cultivate” and “keep” the Garden of Eden?

Adam: “Hey God, why do I have to work and cultivate the land? Why can’t I just have faith that you are going to cause the plants to grow and produce fruit and vegetables without me doing anything at all?”

Some Christians believe that they shouldn’t take any responsibility in the food they eat and their own provisions for emergency situations. But this view doesn’t hold water when they run to the grocery store every week to buy groceries for their pantry or put gas in their vehicles. Why don’t they just trust the Lord and have faith that food will appear in their pantries and gas will miraculously show up in their gas tanks?

Bible Examples of Preparedness

The one story in the Bible that speaks to preparedness the most is the story of Joseph and the years of plenty and famine in Egypt. You can find the story in Genesis 41. In this story, Pharoah has a dream and young Joseph interprets it for Pharoah. Joseph tells Pharoah…

Let Pharaoh take action to appoint overseers in charge of the land, and let him exact a fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven years of abundance. Then let them gather all the food of these good years that are coming, and store up the grain for food in the cities under Pharaoh’s authority, and let them guard it. Let the food become as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which will occur in the land of Egypt, so that the land will not perish during the famine.” Genesis 41:34-36 NASB

Joseph’s interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream and advice saved a nation and ultimately his own family! Later, after Jacob (Joseph’s father) dies, Joseph tells his brothers who are fearful that he might pay them back for selling him to slave traders in Egypt…

…Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them. Genesis 50:19-21 NASB

Another example of preparedness found in the Bible is again, from the Book of Genesis. In the story of Noah’s Ark, God tells Noah to build an ark which will contain two of every unclean animal and seven pairs of every clean animal on the Earth (Genesis 7:2).

In order to prepare for his family and all of those animals, the Lord told Noah to prepare food. We read in Genesis 6:21 NASB, “As for you, take for yourself some of all food which is edible, and gather it to yourself; and it shall be for food for you and for them.”

More Bible Scriptures on Prepping

The Book of Genesis doesn’t hold all the Scriptural basis for preparedness or “putting some back.” Other Scriptures include the popular verses about the ant.

Prepper Is Just a New Word for Common Sense

But in reality, being prepared isn’t a Christian or a non-Christian thing. It is just common sense. We are so used to going to 24 hour stores and getting anything we want. We eat fruits and vegetables that are imported from all over the world. We are so spoiled compared to our great great grandparents and those who came before them! They were really preppers!

Before our modern conveniences and transportation system, families had to think through and prepare for their families. They didn’t have a seed catalog to order from, they needed to save seed from their previous growing season. They didn’t have freezers, they had to smoke and salt their meat. They couldn’t run to the store if they forgot sugar. They had to plan out and be very purposeful about what they stored and ate.

We are just so far removed from that time that the idea of putting some food storage back or preparing for an emergency seems like weirdness or extreme living to most people. The truth is, preppers are just being responsible for themselves and their families.

Christian Preppers vs The Last Days

Sometimes, when people think about preparedness, they are thinking about THE APOCALYPSE, like in the Book of Revelation. Scenes from the Left Behind series come back to mind. This might be the case for some, but most Christian Preppers aren’t preparing for “The Tribulation.”

Being prepared means that Christian Preppers are ready for natural disaster type emergencies that happen every season like hurricanes, blizzards, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires and floods. Being prepared means that someone has paid off debt and isn’t acquiring new debt. Preparedness means that you can make due for a few weeks due to a job loss because you have money in savings to pay bills and food in your pantry to eat from. Being prepared just makes sense, but it goes against our modern consumerism way of living.

Christian Preppers Have a Perfect Opportunity to Be a Blessing to Others

When it comes down to it, Christian Preppers have a great opportunity during an emergency to be a blessing to others. Whether that is providing information and know-how or actual gear or food, preppers can shine the light of Jesus during stressful times. As James 2:15-17 NASB says, “If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.”

Christians should prep. It is Biblical and just common-sense. And as Believers, we should always be ready and paying attention to what is happening around us. As Jesus said in Matthew 16:2-3 NASB, “But He replied to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?”

The sky is falling! The end is near! Prepare now for doomsday! For centuries, people have been predicting the end of the world or some other cataclysmic disaster and, stirred by their passion, many more people try to prepare for it. Preppers, as they are called, are known for stockpiling food, weapons, and other supplies as they await doomsday. Even Christians have gotten caught up in end times predictions, tangling biblical prophecy with fear and current events. Some Christians believe they must physically prepare for Armageddon, the return of Jesus, or World War III—whichever comes first. Of course, Jesus is coming back, and the earth as we know it will some day come to an end, but should Christians be preppers? Does the Bible say anything about doomsday prepping?

Prepping is big business. Websites, books, and products abound that promise inside information about impending doom and give instructions about storing, canning, or freeze-drying food and purifying water. Y2K, the scare during the late 1990s, started the current trend toward prepping, and the practice has continued as the world gets crazier. During the Y2K frenzy, thousands sold their homes and dug hideouts for their families in the event of a nuclear or chemical attack or a worldwide financial meltdown. In some regions, the prepper mentality is still going strong, even leading to standoffs with law enforcement.

Some people simply want to live more self-sustaining lifestyles by using solar energy, growing their own food, and keeping livestock for dairy products and meat. They consider it wise to be less dependent upon utility companies and supermarkets for daily survival, but these people are not motivated by paranoia and fear. They are not considered preppers in the strictest sense but are focused on simplifying their lifestyles. Many Christians have adopted this lifestyle in varying degrees, especially among the homeschooling community. They find that raising crops and livestock is a better lifestyle for their families and consider it a bonus that they are also prepared in the event of most emergencies, ranging from power outages to terrorism.

To be considered a “prepper,” a person must be preoccupied with thoughts of preparing for an impending disaster. Some extreme preppers have quit their jobs, burrowed into underground bunkers, and gone completely off the grid to await the end of all things. They see every negative news story as evidence that they are right and doomsday is just around the corner. For Christians to behave this way means that they have lost sight of our mandate to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). They have also lost sight of the fact that God’s people are not to live in fear (Isaiah 41:10; Matthew 10:28). First Peter 3:14 says, “But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ‘Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.’”

When fear or self-centered survivalism is the motivation for prepping, it becomes a lifestyle that cannot be supported by Scripture. We are to live wisely in this world, while remembering that this world is not our home (Hebrews 13:14). And we are to love others as we love ourselves (Galatians 5:14; Luke 10:27). Preppers, for the most part, have self-protection as their highest goal. They stockpile for themselves and their families. But what about their neighbors? What about those who may be in need in time of crisis? What are the guns for? Are they prepared to shoot hungry families who come knocking on their barricaded door? The doomsday prepper mindset can take on a desperate life of its own and lead Christians down a decidedly non-Christian path.

Some Christians have adopted a prepper lifestyle with the purpose of being able to provide for the community in the event of catastrophe. They may have massive storage facilities from which they already sell produce and consider their food cache similar to Joseph’s storehouses (Genesis 41:46–57). Some people have even created community gardens and neighborhood livestock barns and have enjoyed the camaraderie of their neighbors in this joint venture. Such motivation is pleasing to the Lord because it is not self-centered (Philippians 2:4).

A Christian may be a prepper if the Lord is directing that action as a means of furthering His kingdom and ministering to others (1 Corinthians 10:31; Matthew 6:33). If one’s heart motive is love and a desire to utilize what God has given in order to share the gospel and care for as many people as possible in time of need, then prepping is a biblically sound choice. However, most prepping is motivated by fear and self-preservation. It is driven by a lack of faith, and Romans 14:23 says that “whatever is not from faith is sin.” The reasons that a Christian becomes involved with doomsday prepping are what determine whether or not God approves.

On November 11, a record 111 container ships were anchored off the coast of two California ports. This broke the previous record set just 20 days earlier. In response, Joe Biden promised to strengthen the resiliency of the supply chain by moving to 24/7 operations at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

The Biden administration is concerned about the Christmas shopping season and public opinion in an era of product shortages and rising inflation. But this is about more than just making sure shelves are fully stocked for Christmas. The problems involving bottlenecks in these ports are a symptom of a much larger systemic breakdown - a breakdown that threatens to collapse the entire global economic system.

A Broken Supply Chain

Despite the optimistic forecasts of politicians, the broken supply chain won't repair itself any time soon. Its problems will carry on well into 2022 and beyond. President Biden can push for 24/7 port operations, but he knows this won't fix the problem.

These promises are nothing but a public relations campaign to make voters think he's "doing something." Containers cover every square inch of these ports. Before new containers can be offloaded from ships, trucks and trains need to move the existing containers to new locations.

The nationwide shortage of truck drivers makes that a tall order. And the problem isn't confined to California ports alone. Supply chain problems and shortages plague almost every industry and factory in the world, covering a wide range of products such as bacon, semiconductors, toilet paper, aluminum, pet food, juice boxes, and a host of other items. Why is this? And what does it mean going forward?

COVID Shock

When COVID first struck in early 2020, the global economy came to an abrupt halt. We're now experiencing the trauma from that high speed crash - and the damage is massive. The sudden collapse in global demand led to negative oil futures prices in April 2020.

This caused energy producers around the world to cap production. Now that demand is returning, producers can't simply increase production overnight. So demand has increased much faster than supply. Fast forward to late 2021, and we're facing the consequences.

Natural gas prices in the United Kingdom are triple what they were just five months ago. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin is holding much of Europe hostage as they've allowed themselves to become dependent on his energy supplies. In China, coal generates 50% of the nation's electricity, and coal is becoming harder and harder to source.

All this means one thing - higher energy prices, and higher costs for businesses and consumers. It also means energy shortages and rolling blackouts. These energy disruptions result in additional production shutdowns and manufacturing bottlenecks, further compounding global supply chain problems.

The Whole System Could Breakdown

The constant disruptions from COVID shutdowns, energy disruptions, and shortages of key manufacturing inputs creates a vicious feedback loop that only makes the problem worse. For example, let's take the following example:

Widget A + Widget B = Widget C

What happens when an electricity blackout at an overseas factory leads to a shortage of Widget A? The answer is clear. Widget C can't be made. Since Widget A is a key component necessary to make Widget C, no one can make Widget C. Now the world has a shortage of both Widget A and Widget C. And this too makes the problem worse.

Imagine this scenario:

Widget C + Widget D = Widget E (the key component in manufacturing Widget A)

In this case, Widget E is absolutely necessary to make Widget A, and the world is experiencing a shortage of Widget A. The obvious solution is to produce more Widget A's. However, since Widget A is necessary to make Widget C, and Widget C is necessary to make Widget E, Widget E can't be made.

Can you see how the current supply chain disruptions could morph into a catastrophic failure? This type of destabilization could result in widespread shortages of everything, including food. This will lead to massive social unrest.

As the old adage says, "Fear not the angry man, but the hungry man." Hungry people launch revolutions. Because of this, they're a threat to those in power. So what's the best way for politicians and heads of state to distract from such problems? History says it's war. War is often the result of trade disruptions, shortages, and/or resource scarcity. This means we live in extremely dangerous times.

The End Times Approach

For the moment, these supply chain issues may seem like minor inconveniences in your day-to-day life. But they illustrate just how fragile our global economic system is. Just-in-time delivery provides an efficient, cost effective global supply chain system when everything works the way it's supposed to. But when unexpected events take place, the whole system falls apart.

What happens when grocery stores experience more than just a sporadic shortage of specific products? What happens when food itself is in short supply? When that happens, we'll also find out how fragile society itself is. Imagine if New York City (or any large urban area) ran out of food. How do you think people will react? What do you think politicians will do to divert attention from such a crisis?

The world is already on the verge of a major military conflict. Right now, Russia is gathering troops on the border of Ukraine. China is running daily combat exercises to prepare for an invasion of Taiwan. Israel regularly bombs targets in Syria - a nation where Russia, Turkey, and Iran all have an active military presence.

While people long for a return to "normal," it won't happen. We're in the last waning days of a dying world order. Soon, we'll have a catastrophic breakdown of the current global system. The world will erupt into war just like Europe did in 1914. When the dust settles from World War III, a new world order will emerge. What will it look like? I believe it will look like the one outlined in Chapters 6 thru 13 of the Book of Revelation.

Why? Because Jesus said so. He said when you see all the signs He and the prophets said to look for, you should look up (Luke 21:28). We see those signs now. Their convergence tells us His return is close at hand. Some of those signs are:

• Israel Back in the Land (Jeremiah 23:7-8; Ezekiel 39:28; Isaiah 11:12; Psalm 107:3; Ezekiel 20:34; Isaiah 11:11-12)

• The Jewish People in Control of Jerusalem (Luke 21:24-28)

• The Gospel Preached Throughout the World (Matthew 24:14)

• An Increase in Travel and Knowledge (Daniel 12:4)

• Arrival of the Exponential Curve (Matthew 24:3‐8)

• Israel Surrounded by Enemies (Psalm 83:4; Psalm 83:12; Ezekiel 11:14‐17; Ezekiel 35:10)

• Israel's Exceedingly Great Army (Ezekiel 37:10; Zechariah 12:6; Zechariah 12:8)

• The Rise of a United Europe (Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Revelation 17)

• The Rise of a Global Government (Revelation 13:7-17)

• The State of Mankind (2 Timothy 3:1-4)

• Denial of the Signs (2 Peter 3:3‐4)

• And many more...

So what does this mean? It means now is the time to point out these signs to others and warn them of what's coming. If you've been waiting to share the Gospel with someone, don't wait any longer. Jesus is coming, and He's coming soon. The signs are all around us.

Cargo ships are still anchored off the coast of Southern California due to a lack of workers needed to unload and ship product.

The trucking industry is short 80,000 drivers, a record high, according to Chris Spear, the President and CEO of the American Trucking Association.

Last week Mr. Spear said a whopping 37% of truck drivers will reject the Covid jab.

“In our sample survey of our fleets, it came back as 37% of our drivers not only said “no” – but “hell no”” Mr. Spear said, adding that even if 3.7% of his drivers were to leave rather than get the vaccine it would be “catastrophic.”

“Be careful what you wish for here,” Spear said warning the Biden Regime against mandating vaccines for truckers.

Earlier this month, White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said firing thousands of truck drivers and frontline workers over Biden’s vaccine mandate won’t affect the supply chain.

Gas prices are skyrocketing around the U.S. and there's no sign of relief in sight.

If the average cost of a gallon of gas continues to climb, as I predict that it will, not only will hard-pressed Americans feel an enormous additional financial burden but the entire economy will face an increased risk of recession.

It didn't need to be this way.

Delusional energy policy driven by Democrats' self-destructive climate change politics have hammered U.S. energy producers and left the county at the mercy of foreign adversaries.

First, where we are and where we are headed:

AAA reported Sunday that the national average for a gallon of gas hit $4.009 -- the highest since 2008.

Last week, prices at the pump jumped at the fastest pace since Hurricane Katrina knocked out oil producers in the Gulf of Mexico in 2005.

In the futures market, Brent crude oil on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) peaked late last week at a ten-year high of $119.84 per barrel, the equivalent of $4.013 per gallon for consumers.

Brent crude oil briefly spiked even above $139 a barrel on Sunday before settling back around $122.

In Pennsylvania, the state with the highest tax on gasoline, prices at the pump translate to $4.283 per gallon, while the price in California, the state with the most stringent environmental laws on the oil and gas industries, prices translate to $5.386 per gallon.

Prior to the 2008 recession a barrel of crude oil hit $150. We are well on our way to reaching and potentially exceeding that crisis mark endangering the entire economy. (The chart above shows Stephen Schork's projection for retail gas prices in the summer of 2022, which approach levels that have previously proceeded recessions)

These levels are not even the top if crude oil prices remain at current levels.

As the warm weather arrives, travel demand for gasoline will rise sharply.

At the same time, refiners will be required to supply summer-grade gasoline to the market, a blend of gasoline which is more expensive to produce.

These additional factors will add, on average, another $0.302 per gallon over the summer.

Taken all together, gas prices are about to smash the previous record from July 2008 of $4.062 per gallon.

I forecast that average prices could top $4.500 per gallon by peak summer driving season.

Of course, this is contingent upon crude oil prices holding at current levels.

For every one dollar increase in crude oil from here, will translate to a 2.4 cent increase for drivers at the pump.

Therein lies the concern about economic growth as more and more dollars are spent on gasoline, rather than on other consumer goods.

Consumer spending accounts for 70% of the U.S. economy.

At some point, demand for gasoline will hit an inflection point. Consumer will face hard decisions like choosing between groceries or gas.

This typically happens at the onset of recession -- choking consumer spending chokes the U.S. economy.

Consider that every recession, beginning with the economic downturn, which started in the aftermath of the 1974 Arab oil embargo through the 2008 Great Recession, occurred on the heels of a meteoric rise in the cost per barrel of crude oil.

Prior to the 2008 recession a barrel of crude oil hit $150. We are well on our way to reaching and potentially exceeding that crisis mark endangering the entire economy.

Second, how we got here:

One of the reasons that American's find themselves at the mercy of the oil markets is that we are relying more and more on foreign producers.

War in Ukraine is now driving prices higher, as production is reduced and buyers avoid purchasing Russian products. Fears of a U.S./European boycott of Russian energy is another upward pressure on prices.

But there's nothing to be done about it in the short term.

In the 2020 presidential debate, Biden answered 'yes' to the question of whether he would close down the oil industry. The world is now reaping the consequences of his energy policy.

There are numerous examples in Biden's energy policy that have driven energy costs sky high. Perhaps his greatest sin is his unending reluctance to embrace domestic energy production.

Consider that from 2016 until Biden's inauguration, the U.S. was a net exporter in five out of eight weeks, with the U.S. exporting 1.9 barrels for every imported barrel.

In Biden's first 57 weeks in office that has changed. The U.S. has been a net importer of oil in four out of every five weeks, with the U.S. importing 6.5 barrels for every one barrel exported.

As a result of the Biden White House's declared war on the U.S. oil and gas industry, Putin's economic fortunes have turned around over the last two years.

Dependence on Russian oil skyrocketed over the past year.

In 2020, U.S. imports of Russian crude oil were 28 million barrels. Last year, imports surged 162% to a ten-year high of 73 million barrels.

Total imports of Russian crude oil and petroleum products jumped 24% in 2021 to a record 245 million barrels. This massive infusion of petrodollars into Putin's war chest has helped to fund his adventures in Ukraine.

Our experiment with a zero-sum green agenda is a disaster.

Even the Germans now know going fully green is untenable; the country recently admitted that a strategy that eschews investment in fossil fuels is unsound and in the case of Russia, dangerous as well.

Third, Biden has no good solution for this crisis:

In the State of the Union address, Biden announced that the U.S. will add more supply to the global energy market by releasing oil from the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve to, 'help blunt gas prices here at home.'

As I predicted in an article for DailyMail.com in November, when Biden released 50 million barrels from the SPR, the policy is meaningless political posturing.

Since November, crude oil prices have nearly doubled.

The President's plan to combat runaway prices to, 'cut energy costs for families an average of $500 a year…' also rolls in another ridiculous scheme to rein in prices by -- wait for it -- 'combatting climate change.'

Nowhere in the President's one-hour long, near 7,000-word speech did he mention increasing domestic oil and gas production.

As Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, et al. have been quoted the definition of insanity is doing the same over and over and expecting different results.

By this rubric, Biden's plan to tackle rising energy costs is insane.

If Biden was serious about lowering energy costs, then in his SOTUS he would have given his plan to ramp up domestic crude oil production from its current rate of 11.5 million barrels a day, back to its pre-Covid rate of 13.1 million barrels per day.

Instead, the President regurgitated his lame platitudes to renewables.

Biden is drowning, and a drowning man will clutch at a straw.

One of those straws appears to be coming in the form of Venezuela.

The New York Times reported that U.S. officials traveled to Venezuela this past weekend.

Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro government cut diplomatic ties with the U.S. in 2019 after President Trump recognized Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó as interim president of the country.

Now the Biden administration is attempting to crawl back into the dictator's good graces, because Venezuela is an oil producing nation.

Senator Marco Rubio may have said it best when he tweeted:

'Joe Biden using #Russia as an excuse to do the deal they always wanted to do anyway with the #MaduroRegime... Rather than produce more American oil he wants to replace the oil we buy from one murderous dictator with oil from another murderous dictator.'

A quote often attributed to Winston Churchill stands true, 'You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing after they have tried everything else.'

Biden's SOTUS was an opportunity to change course from his failed energy policy to one that embraces domestic production. Instead, he gave us his boilerplate pap on renewables.

By this metric, high energy costs are here to stay. Eventually we will come around and make the right decision on investment in fossil fuels. Putin is now fast tracking this inevitability.

Let's hope American's right answer is not too late.

Why Are Walmart And Other Major U.S. Retailers Canceling BILLIONS Of Dollars In Orders As Summer Comes To An End?

Do they know something that they aren’t telling us? As you will see below, Walmart, Target and other major U.S. retailers are literally canceling billions of dollars in orders ahead of the coming holiday season. I have never heard of such a thing happening before, and under normal conditions it wouldn’t make any sense at all. The holiday season is typically the busiest time of the year for retailers, and at this time in 2021 there was actually a great deal of concern that there wouldn’t be enough inventory due to global supply chain problems. But now everything has changed. All of a sudden major retailers are feverishly canceling orders, and this would only make sense if a severe economic downturn was imminent.

For example, Walmart is admitting that it has canceled “billions of dollars in orders” as we approach the upcoming holiday season…

John David Rainey, Walmart’s EVP and CFO, said it had cleared most summer inventory, was reducing exposure in electronics, home and sporting goods, and canceled “billions of dollars in orders” to realign inventories. He said, “Our actions in Q3 will allow us to make significant progress toward rationalizing absolute levels and mix, which will enable our stores to be well positioned ahead of the holiday season.”

It is extremely odd that Walmart would decide to do such a thing.

Recently I had an opportunity to stroll through a Walmart, and there were plenty of inventory holes.

So what would make them suddenly cancel “billions of dollars” in orders that they thought that they were going to need for the holiday season?

Perhaps some enterprising reporter will be willing to ask them such a question.

Meanwhile, we just learned that Target has also canceled “more than $1.5 billion” in orders…

Target said it had reduced its “inventory exposure in discretionary categories” throughout Q2 by canceling more than $1.5 billion of orders in these categories and marking down products.

Target is much smaller than Walmart is, and so for Target to cancel so many orders is a really big deal.

And it turns out that Kohl’s and Under Armour have also been canceling large numbers of orders as well…

Kohl’s has also pulled back on order receipts and increased promotions to get through an inventory glut.

“We have taken action to address inventory, including increasing promotions, being aggressive on clearing excess inventory and pulling back on receipts,” said Kohl’s CFO Jill Timm in a call with investors.

These retailers are obviously scared that they will end up stuck with massive amounts of inventory that they cannot sell.

Do they believe that economic activity during the months ahead will be much lower than they originally anticipated?

One corporate executive that is actually publicly admitting that he believes that a recession is coming is FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam…

FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam told CNBC’s Jim Cramer on Thursday that he believes a recession is impending for the global economy.

“I think so. But you know, these numbers, they don’t portend very well,” Subramaniam said in response to Cramer’s question of whether the economy is “going into a worldwide recession.”

The CEO’s pessimism came after FedEx missed estimates on revenue and earnings in its first quarter. The company also withdrew its full year guidance.

Sadly, he is right on target.

For months, I have been warning that the economic numbers were telling us that big trouble was on the way, and now everyone can see it.

But unlike the “Great Recession” of 2008 and 2009, this time we are also going to have to deal with raging inflation even as economic activity slows down all around us.

U.S. utility customers, faced with some of their largest bills in years, are set to pay even more this winter as natural-gas prices continue to climb.

Natural-gas prices have more than doubled this year because of a global supply shortage made worse by the war in Ukraine, and they are expected to remain elevated for months as fuel is needed to light and heat homes during the winter. The supply crunch has made it substantially more expensive for utilities to purchase or produce power, and those costs are being passed on to customers.

The cost of living has been rising much faster than our paychecks have for quite some time now, and a lot more pain is on the horizon.

A common refrain from people who are critical of alternative economists is that we have been predicting crisis for so long that “eventually we will be right.” These are generally people who don’t understand the nature of economic decline – It’s like an avalanche that builds over time, then breaks and quickly escalates as it flows down the mountain. Americans to Suffer Costly Winter with Heating, Electric Bills: ‘A Lot of Pain’

Americans will suffer this winter season regarding heating and electric bills as other costs continue to rise.

“The average household will pay about 17% more this winter to heat their property, reaching a 10-year high of about $1,200 per home, according to a forecast from the nonprofit National Energy Assistance Directors Association,” CBS News reported Monday.

Electricity bills would go up with the prices expected to rise 7.5 percent from last year.

According to Mark Wolfe, the executive director of the National Energy Assistance Directors Association, “There is a lot of pain. This is the second year of high home heating prices. Across the board, low- and middle-income families are suffering.”

In August, Lipow Oil Associates President Andy Lipow warned about natural gas prices climbing throughout the colder months, according to Breitbart News:

When we look at utilities going forward this winter, especially with the soaring price of natural gas, which has doubled since this time last year, the consumer is going to be paying far more for natural gas this upcoming winter heating season. That’s also going to filter into higher electricity costs as 39 percent of our electricity is generated from natural gas.

In addition, drivers were still shelling out 15 percent more at the pumps than they were a year ago, per the CBS article.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden (D) recently tried to downplay rising inflation during an interview on 60 Minutes while reporter Scott Pelley said the annual inflation rate was at 8.3 last month, Breitbart News reported.

“Well, first of all, let’s put this in perspective. Inflation rate month to month was just — just an inch, hardly at all,” Biden claimed.

Pelley also reiterated it was the highest inflation in 40 years.

Biden continued trying unsuccessfully to convince Americans not to worry about inflation, Breitbart News’ John Carney wrote Monday.

He noted prices were up significantly in August and “when Biden tells America that prices rising at an annualized rate of 9.2 percent is ‘just an inch, hardly at all,’ he might as well be telling people not to believe their lying eyes.”

Ex-Pfizer Vice-President, Dr. Michael Yeadon, recently spoke with LifeSiteNews where he took on the COVID-19 injection agency, calling it “demonstrably false” and fraught with sinister corruption that could lead to unimaginable “totalitarianism” and mass death events within 2 years.

There is “no possibility” current variants of COVID-19 will escape immunity. It is “just a lie.”

Yet, governments around the world are repeating this lie, indicating that we are witnessing not just “convergent opportunism,” but a “conspiracy.” Meanwhile media outlets and Big Tech platforms are committed to the same propaganda and the censorship of the truth.

Pharmaceutical companies have already begun to develop unneeded “top-up” (“booster”) vaccines for the “variants.” The companies are planning to manufacture billions of vials, in addition to the current experimental COVID-19 “vaccine” campaign.

Regulatory agencies like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency, have announced that since these “top-up” vaccines will be so similar to the prior injections which were approved for emergency use authorization, drug companies will not be required to “perform any clinical safety studies.”

Thus, this virtually means that design and implementation of repeated and coerced mRNA vaccines “go from the computer screen of a pharmaceutical company into the arms of hundreds of millions of people, [injecting] some superfluous genetic sequence for which there is absolutely no need or justification.”

Why are they doing this? Since no benign reason is apparent, the use of vaccine passports along with a “banking reset” could issue in a totalitarianism unlike the world has ever seen. Recalling the evil of Stalin, Mao, and Hitler, “mass depopulation” remains a logical outcome.

“But what I would like to do is talk about immune escape because I think that’s probably going to be the end game for this whole event, which I think is probably a conspiracy. So it looked like it was kind of linked, but I was prepared to say it was just convergence.”

“And they are talking the same sort of future script which is, ‘We don’t want you to move around because of these pesky varmints, these “variants”’— which I call ‘samiants’ by the way, because they are pretty much the same — but they’re all saying this and they are all saying ‘don’t worry, there will be “top-up” vaccines that will cope with the potential escapees.’ They’re all saying this when it is obviously nonsense.”

“I think the end game is going to be, ‘everyone receives a vaccine’… Everyone on the planet is going to find themselves persuaded, cajoled, not quite mandated, hemmed-in to take a jab.

“When they do that every single individual on the planet will have a name, or unique digital ID and a health status flag which will be ‘vaccinated,’ or not … and whoever possesses that, sort of single database, operable centrally, applicable everywhere to control, to provide as it were, a privilege, you can either cross this particular threshold or conduct this particular transaction or not depending on [what] the controllers of that one human population database decide. And I think that’s what this is all about because once you’ve got that, we become playthings and the world can be as the controllers of that database want it.

“For example, you might find that after a banking reset that you can only spend through using an app that actually feeds off this [database], your ID, your name, [and] your health status flag.”

“And, yes, certainly crossing an international border is the most obvious use for these vaccine passports, as they are called, but I’ve heard talk of them already that they could be necessary for you to get into public spaces, enclosed public spaces. I expect that if they wanted to, you would not be able to leave your house in the future without the appropriate privilege on your app.

“But even if that’s not [the] true [intent of the vaccine campaign], it doesn’t matter, the fact that it could be true means everyone [reading] this should fight like crazy to make sure that [vaccine passport] system never forms.”

“[With such a system], here is an example of what they could make you do, and I think this is what they’re going to make [people] do.

“You could invent a story that is about a virus and its variations, its mutations over time. You could invent the story and make sure you embed it through the captive media, make sure that no one can counter it by censoring alternative sources, then people are now familiar with this idea that this virus mutates, which it does, and that it produces variants, which is true [as well], which could escape your immune system, and that’s a lie.

“But, nevertheless, we’re going to tell you it’s true, and then when we tell you that it’s true and we say ‘but we’ve got the cure, here’s a top-up vaccine,’ you’ll get a message, based on this one global, this one ID system: ‘Bing!’ it will come up and say ‘Dr. Yeadon, time for your top-up vaccine. And, by the way,’ it will say ‘your existing immune privileges remain valid for four weeks. But if you don’t get your top-up vaccine in that time, you will unfortunately detrimentally be an “out person,” and you don’t want that, do you?’ So, that’s how it’ll work, and people will just walk up and they’ll get their top-up vaccine.”

“But I will take you through this, Patrick, because I am qualified to comment. I don’t know what Vanden Bossche is about. There was no possibility at all, based on all of the variants that are in the public domain, 4000 or so of them, none of them are going to escape immunity [i.e. become more dangerous].

“Nevertheless, politicians and health advisers (to loads of governments) are saying that they are. They’re lying. Well, why would you do that?

“Here’s the other thing, in parallel, pharmaceutical companies have said, several of them, it will be quite easy for us to adjust our gene-based vaccines, and we can hasten them through development, and we can help you.

“So, you’ve got on the one hand, governments and their advisers that are lying to you that variants are different enough from the current virus that, even if you’re immune from natural exposure or vaccination, you’re a risk and you need to come and get this top-up vaccine. So, I think neither of those are true. So why is the drug company making the top-up vaccines? And [with] the regulators having got out of the way — and if Yeadon is right, and I’m sure I am or I wouldn’t be telling you this — you go from the computer screen of a pharmaceutical company into the arms of hundreds of millions of people, some superfluous genetic sequence for which there is absolutely no need or justification.

“And if you wanted to introduce a characteristic which could be harmful and could even be lethal, and you can even tune it to say ‘let’s put it in some gene that will cause liver injury over a nine-month period,’ or, cause your kidneys to fail but not until you encounter this kind of organism [that would be quite possible]. Biotechnology provides you with limitless ways, frankly, to injure or kill billions of people.

“And since I can’t think of a benign explanation for any of the steps: variants, top-up vaccines, no regulatory studies… it’s not only that I cannot think of a benign explanation, the steps described, and the scenario described, and the necessary sort of resolution to this false problem is going to allow what I just described: unknown, and unnecessary gene sequences injected into the arms of potentially billions of people for no reason.

An interlude of two visions interrupt the opening of the seventh seal, just as an interlude of two visions will interrupt the blowing of the seventh trumpet in Revelation 10.

In the first interlude, a vision flashes before John’s eyes: the air becomes mysteriously still and an angel rises from the east, holding God’s “seal” σφραγῖδα [sphragida, sfra-geese’, a “stamp” or “seal of ownership”] in his hand with which to mark 144,000 people, protecting them from the destruction about to follow.

This recalls Ezekiel’s vision of 592 B.C., prelude to the slaughter when Jerusalem falls to the Babylonians in 586 B.C.

144,000
- 144,000 is 12 squared, multiplied by 1,000.
  - It is 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel, a symbolic number representing all those of Israel who have been faithful.
- Many offer a different interpretation of the 144,000, suggesting that they are the complete number of faithful Christians (both Jews and Gentiles) who will be spared during the great tribulation, those who are the “new Israel.”
  - This is certainly a possibility, especially given the Johannine antagonism toward “the Jews.”
  - Nevertheless, we must recall God’s statement to Israel
    - Exodus 4:22— “Israel is my son, my firstborn,”
    - Joshua 1:5– “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
  - God’s covenant with Israel is irrevocable; hence, Paul’s concluding statement in his formal argument regarding redemption: “I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers, so that you will not become wise [in] you own estimation: a hardening has come upon Israel in part, until the full number of the Gentiles comes in, and thus all Israel will be saved, as it is written.” (Romans 11:25-26)
  - Regarding redemption, the Roman Catholic Church addresses the Jews, in alignment with Paul: “Finally, those who have not yet received the Gospel are related in various ways to the people of God. In the first place we must recall the people to whom the testament and the promises were given and from whom Christ was born according to the flesh [that is, the Jews]. On account of their fathers this people remains most dear to God, for God does not repent of the gifts He makes nor of the calls he issues.” Lumen Gentium 2.16.
- So, the 144,000 is best seen as a symbolic number representing all the faithful of Israel.
  - That makes sense, since John’s vision of the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21-22 has 12 gates, bearing the names of the 12 tribes of Israel and 12 foundations, bearing the names of the 12 Apostles

Rev 7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom,
Thanksgiving and honor and power and might,
Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?”

14 And I said to him, “Sir, you know.”

So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. 16 They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; 17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Now we have a vast number of people dressed in white “from every nation, race, people, and tongue.”

These people are distinct from the 144,000 in the previous interlude.
- One of the twenty-four elders confirms to John that as we had the 144,000 of Israel sealed and protected, so do we have a countless multitude of people from “every nation, race, people, and tongue” who make it safely through the great tribulation and stand before the throne of God, washed in the blood of the Lamb.

Seal 7 - Silence (Rev 8:1-5)

Seventh Seal: Prelude to the Seven Trumpets

Rev 8:1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

The silence is deafening! With the kaleidoscope of visions, the flashes of lightening, rumbling of thunder, great angelic choruses praising God, and all of creation joining in thunderous song, the sudden silence is stunning! And it continues for a half hour, while seven angels receive seven trumpets. Something BIG is about to happen!

An introductory scene, or “overture,” precedes the movement from dead silence to the blast of the first trumpet:
- As the “Altar of Incense” stood in the Holy Place of Israel’s tabernacle, flanked by the Menorah (the “golden candlestick,” with its seven branches and seven flames) to the left, and the Table of Showbread (with its bread and wine) to the right, all directly before the Ark of the Covenant and the presence of God in the Holy of Holies, so does a golden “Altar of Incense” sit before God in the genuine tabernacle, which is in heaven (Hebrews 8: 1-5).
- At the genuine “Altar of Incense” an angel approaches with a golden censer, filled with incense and the prayers of the faithful, and he offers it before God, much as Zechariah offered incense before the Lord at the Temple in Jerusalem at the opening of Luke’s gospel (1:8-10). Here, though, in a totally unexpected move, the angel hurls the censer filled with burning coals down upon the earth: lightning flashes, thunder booms . . . and a tremendous earthquake strikes the land!
- What an overture, operatic in its drama! I can’t help but think that the prayers are from the martyrs beneath the altar in the 5th seal.

As the apostle John relates an extended vision of God’s throne room, he describes the Lamb on the throne who is handed a scroll with seven seals (Revelation 6). The Lamb proceeds to break open the seals one by one. After each seal is opened, a judgment occurs on earth. Then, “when he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour” (Revelation 8:1). After the half hour of silence, the seven trumpet judgments begin (Revelation 8:6—9:21; 11:15–19).

The Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, is the only person worthy to open the scroll’s seven seals (Revelation 5:1–5). In other words, all judgment has been entrusted to the Son (John 5:22). The first six seals unleash unprecedented judgment on the earth during the tribulation period. The sixth seal causes people from every segment of society to hide in caves and call to the surrounding mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” (Revelation 5:16–17).

Revelation 7 is an interlude between the sixth and seventh seals. During this time, John sees an innumerable throng of people before the throne of God, loudly proclaiming in chorus, “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb” (Revelation 7:10).

Then in Revelation 8:1 Jesus breaks the seventh seal. John says that, after this seal was broken, “there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.” This silence immediately follows the loud and jubilant songs of heavenly worship in chapter 7, making the absolute, sudden silence even more dramatic. There is something about the seventh seal that stops every mouth and silences all of heaven.

Scripture does not specify the reasons for the silence in heaven for that half an hour. But here are some possibilities:

1) The silence in heaven for the space of half an hour is a sign of deep respect and awe in the presence of the Judge of all the earth. Just as earthly courtrooms demand silence when the judge is presiding, so does the heavenly courtroom. “Be silent before the Sovereign LORD, for the day of the LORD is near” (Zephaniah 1:7). “The LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him” (Habakkuk 2:20).

2) The half-hour silence in heaven is the result of somber reflection on what has just been revealed. When Jesus Christ breaks the seventh seal, the scroll of God’s judgment is fully revealed for the first time. Now all heaven can see God’s plan to judge the wickedness of the earth, destroy the kingdom of the beast, and set things right. All heaven remains silent as God’s righteousness is on display. At the sight of full scroll and all the judgments about to fall, the denizens of heaven take their cue from Job, who, faced with God’s awesome presence, said, “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth” (Job 40:4).

3) The silence in heaven is due to the severity of the actions the Lord God is about to take. With the scroll fully open, heaven can now see the trumpet judgments (in the next verse, seven nearby angels are handed seven trumpets of judgment, Revelation 8:2) and the bowl judgments (which the seventh trumpet introduces). These judgments are more terrible than anything the world will have ever seen (Mark 13:19–20). The final catastrophes are about to befall the earth, and silence and stillness fill the time of tense expectation. “Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling” (Zechariah 2:13, ESV).

In a way, the silence in heaven could be seen as the calm before the storm—the storm of final judgment coming upon the earth. The silence emphasizes the importance and impressiveness of the seventh and final seal. With the opening of the seventh seal comes a climax in the Day of the Lord. Evil has had its day; now the Lord will have His.
